A Song for Your School

We’ll be singing lyrics by Alex Nevsky!

Singer Alex Nevsky has enthusiastically accepted the invitation from Culture pour tous: He will compose the lyrics and music for your next back-to-school song!

In 2016, a rap version of lyrics composed by Koriass was sung in 245 schools. In 2017, a composition by the Boulay sisters was sung in nearly 650 schools. With a song by Alex Nevsky will we reach the magic number of 1,000 schools? Help us rise to the challenge!

This is a call to teachers in Quebec and across Canada and La Francophonie to have your students join in with tens of thousands of other students singing the song as a choir on Friday, September 28, to kick off the 22nd edition of the Journées de la culture.

Register now for this free turnkey activity and automatically receive news of the project.

The official song along with a toolkit (lyrics, musical scores, sung versions, instrumental music, etc.) will be available as of Wednesday, June 20. A complete instructional guide will be available to you when school resumes in September.

Celebrate the Journées de la culture by creating activities throughout the school: construction of whacky instruments to accompany the song, a group creative effort, a chalk drawing contest in the schoolyard, an exhibition, an improv session, etc.

The Une chanson à l’école project is made possible by Culture pour tous with the support of the Quebec Department of Culture and Communications, Hydro Québec, and the Centrale des syndicats du Québec, and in collaboration with Télé-Québec’s La Fabrique culturelle. Outreach partners: Association canadienne d'éducation de langue française (ACELF) and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation.
